4 feet 3 inches had a Thought!

Although i am a literature freak i hated reading poems. Maybe Ghazals (Something like poem in Hindi)but reading those few lines and not understanding them, always wondering what my english teacher told me about how we are suppposed to look for a deeper meaning in these poems. Well, my brain is not super cultivated for that but this one below written by a african boy totally has the appeal.
Just surprising how the mind explores without barriers of age, sex, race, culture or knowledge. The things you can say just having Microsoft word, a laptop and and your mind. Isnt it amazing?

When I born,
I Black,
When I grow up,
I Black,
When I go in Sun,
I Black,
When I scared,
I Black,
When I sick,
I Black,
And when I die,
I still black..
And you White fella,
When you born, you Pink,
When you grow up, you White,
When you go in Sun, you Red,
When you cold, you Blue,
When you scared, you Yellow,
When you sick, you Green,
And when you die, you Gray..
And you calling ME Colored ??

Dude .. chill out .. it ain't a personal offence .. plain freedom of expression .. and seriously buddy, if you didn't find the poem ever so innocent and revealing, am really sorry that you missed out on a lot, but don't worry just keep visitin' and am sure you'll learn a lot from this blog :-)

This started as an internet chain mail.
The "Oh this young african boy wrote this!" addition is just for effect.

Anonym hat gesagt…

Well...Mr.Unforgiven, watever be it...i mean the poem does makes sense and looking at it reminds us of the reality. So written by a african boy or a chinese clown...all that matters is that 'it makes sense'!!
anyways thanks fro commenting

"kinda"
Colored isn't really used as a derogatory term. It is used to describe a person's heritage and origins.

Next people will start having a problem with the word "black"!

I hate to disagree ma'am but it really makes "no" sense, unless of course, it were meant as a joke (which was the original intention).

Oh, and the name's Rahul.

KayGee hat gesagt…

@rahul

dude u gotta give credit to whoever wrote that poem .... it ain't meant as a joke !! its rather the wit of the poet who wrote it down coz funnily enough the poem DOES make sense and believe u me .... when i read it out to my foreign friends, they had no answer to it :P its not a personal comment but, it does pay to agree wid sth for what its worth than bitch about discrimination and misinterpretations :) i hope u understand ;)

Peace :)

unforgiven hat gesagt…

6.5 years in the US and I didn't hear "colored" as a discriminatory, ever.

KayGee hat gesagt…

9 years abroad (not just the US) and i know how derogatory that term may be :) so dude chill !! its just a poem - let it be one !! no hard feelings :)

Peace :)

KayGee hat gesagt…

neways i don't think Narmada wanted to raise any issues here other than just give us a work of litt. to enjoy and comprehend :)

Anonym hat gesagt…

Exactly....i didnt wanted to raise a issue but i beleive and rspect everybody's opinion so thank you both for commenting but remember Peace and love is all we need to spread today. The opposite of it is already too much spread over.
Anyway...a debate is appreciated but a healthy one is most appreciated. thanks

KayGee hat gesagt…

point duly taken ji :)
